With the aim of expanding our service provision for our clients, we are excited to announce the introduction of an in-house Civil/Structural Engineering design department.

Ian Castle will lead the new department as Civils Director bringing over 35 years’ experience in Civil Engineering, building design and construction.

Ian is a lateral thinking Civil Engineer (in recent years rail biased), project manager and H&S practitioner with a broad cross fertilisation of experience in many sectors, with a background of highways and bridge design, construction and site management with many of the largest public authorities and contractors. Familiar with the unusual challenging nature of our industry, appreciation of buildability and business development.

A few words from Ian – ‘Crayside Consulting, I believe offers a genuinely fresh invigorating approach to engineering design.  With an existing team of young, enthusiastic professionals, the addition of my team’s slightly older eyes brings increased exposure, experience and a determination to learn from what has gone before and using some of that energy and vitality to produce consistently better modern coordinated designs, redefining the standard for others to aim for.  An established building services design consultancy, working with Matt Bumpass and the team at Crayside, we are expanding to lead rather than follow on civil and building projects in the rail and in other sectors.

We bring in expertise with Network Rail, LUL etc., designing and inspecting major structures, successfully leading NSIP and AFA rail projects and working in other sectors.  We have the ambition, drive, enthusiasm and competency to deliver.  We will be recruiting as workload increases and are proud to already be seeing exciting enquiries for new work, in addition to supporting the building services teams.’
