London Victoria Train Station – WC Refurbishment

London Victoria Train Station – WC Refurbishment

We were appointed by Network Rail to deliver Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health & Hydraulics design and construction monitoring role for UK capital’s busiest toilets from concept to completion. The scheme involved full re-modelling and refurbishment of existing Kent Side and Sussex Side toilets including accommodation for ‘Changing Places’ WCs in line with requirements of BS8300 and DfT Guidelines.

Complexity, Fast Track Delivery- Challenge Accepted

The toilets renewals have been completed within the challenging target programme of just 8 months from Concept to Completion and Handover with tremendous complexities such as a dysfunctional sewage pumping station. We collaborated with Client, Design Team and Contractor alike, leading MEP design and delivery of the scheme with diligence and agility in planning, design and responsiveness to construction queries on-site to achieve the timescales.

No Record Information - We had the perfect answer!

With no record information available for the existing WC and Concourse areas at the station, we implemented 3D laser scanning for the areas and developed base layouts with a REVIT model, both Architectural and MEP from scratch.

 BIM

Implementing BIM Level 2 process enabled ease in co-ordination with design team, de-risked installation, reduced construction programme and cost and helped us communicate effectively via 3D visualisations with the end client. We have also developed the as-built information using the 3D model to facilitate ease of maintenance for Station Facility Managers.

 Value in Engineering

Taking over specialist lighting design responsibilities mid-way through the construction process, we engaged with all specialist installers including WC FFE providers to bring a £70K saving on luminaire procurement without compromise on quality or aesthetic ambience desired from the space.
