Involving Network Rail, Southern and the Railway Heritage Trust, the scheme comprises of a single new lift linking to the station building and new footbridge to provide obstacle free, accessible routes at the station.
The scheme also involved accessibilty to the Hertiage Railway platform from the station car park.
Crayside Consulting's appointment was to undertake the Architectural, Civils, MEP and SISS (Station Information and Surveillance Services) design coordinating with design and constriction teams throughout and delivering combined Form F002/F003 (GRIP 5) and AFC design for the scheme.
We collaborated with the Client, Design Team and Contractor alike leading MEP design and delivery of the scheme with diligence and agilty in planning, design and responsiveness to contruction queries on-site to achieve the timescales.
The goal of blending the heritage aspects of the station (built in 1868) with modern accessibilty requirements was achieved with the opening of the new step free access station on the 17th February 2022.
