Scope

Network Rail are considering refurbishment of the existing signalling and control centre hubs at Waterloo and Basingstoke sites and require a detailed understanding of the facilities and condition of the existing buildings and assets contained therein.

As a part of the JPIC Control Transformation Programme, Network Rail have engaged Crayside Consulting to undertake asset condition surveys, produce detailed reports towards subsequent options selection and detailed design for these elements of works.

Survey reports include Electrical, HVAC, Data / Telecom, Building Integrity including roof structure, fire protection and escape, thermal Insulation and energy efficiency, hazardous materials and overall building condition information.

No Record Information - Challenge Accepted.

With next to no record information available on the existing building plans, we have undertaken a detailed point cloud survey using our in-house digital team to develop building layouts from scratch.

Working Seamlessly in the Mission Critical Rail Environment

A key challenge to undertaking the multi-disciplinary surveys has been working in live, fully functional control centres without compromise or disruption to mission critical rail operations.
With meticulous communication, planning, phasing and sequencing of various survey works prior to commencement, our specialist survey team successfully completed all discipline surveys in a record time of 12 days for both the sites.

Collaboration, Satisfaction and Trust

Collaborating with various stakeholders including Network Rail, Train Operating Company, Station Staff and Existing System Maintainers we came up with a comprehensive and targeted asset condition reports to advise design going forward. Our potential involvement on designs post survey activities is a testament to our performance & client satisfaction.
